Traditional Knitting Techniques (Weekend)
Combine relaxing in a comfortable Highland country house hotel with the opportunity of learning about traditional knitting techniques in a informal and enjoyable atmosphere. This break is suitable for any knitter - from the absolute beginner to the accomplished enthusiast. Holiday leader Marion Reid will guide you through a range of traditional techniques including cable and Aran, lace, drop-stitch and intarsia (a way of knitting blocks of colour together). We will also be looking at original Fair Isle patterns, and exploring how to use two or more colours at the same time to produce beautifully detailed designs. This weekend will show how even inexperienced knitters can draw on traditional techniques and patterns to make attractive items of all kinds for adults, children and the home.
