Whisky on the Rocks
Whisky and Golf Breaks Enjoy some of the best whisky in the Highlands against a backdrop of magnificent scenery. Discover during this relaxed weekend with geologist and whisky connoisseur Dr Stephen Cribb how Highland rock helps create the distinctive tastes of our favourite drams. Based in the Victorian seaside town of Nairn, with its famous championship golf courses and sandy beaches, the highlights of this break include: Glenmorangie Distillery The famous Glenmorangie Distillery situated in a tranquil glen by the shores of the Dornoch Firth has been crafting its unique single malt whisky for centuries. Your guided tour will show you the tallest whisky stills in Scotland and reveal the craft behind ScotlandŐs favourite malt whisky. YouŐll also have a chance to sample a wee dram for yourself. Clynelish Distillery Clynelish Distillery uses pure spring water from the Clynemilton burn to produce a fruity, slightly smoked Single Malt Whisky. Dunrobin Castle Dunrobin castle is the most northerly of ScotlandŐs great houses. The original tower house dates from 1520, but it is the work of Sir Charles Barry (who designed the House of Parliament, London) that still dominated the style of the building today, giving it the look of a French Chateau. Barry also designed the layout of the beautiful formal gardens- inspired by the gardens of Versailles. Your visit includes the Castle museum with its magnificent collection of Pictish stones. Dallas Dhu This picturesque distillery with its pagoda-shaped kiln closed in the 1980s but has been lovingly preserved by Historic Scotland to illustrate the art of whisky making. Your tour includes an audio visual presentation and, of course, a dram! Glen Grant Distillery and Gardens Taste a dram in the MajorŐs study and discover the secrets of this light, floral malt whisky. Founded in 1840 for the two Grant brothers, the distillery also features a splendid Victorian garden. Glenfiddich Distillery The Glenfiddich Distillery has been owned and managed by the same family for five generations and is the only Highland malt whisky bottled at source. WhatŐs included? Two nights Dinner Bed and Breakfast accommodation in VisitScotland *** hotel in Nairn (including special whisky-themed dinner on the Saturday evening), welcome dram and introductory talk, transport, admission charges and guide. Price £325 per person. Single room supplement of £20.00. Departure dates Book now E-mail us at enquiriesl@rowan-tree-scotland.co.uk for further details.
